First rough draft of the lines guides for the drawing up of the new Portuale Town development plan of Monfalcone



Friday slid to Trieste has held a reunion of the advisory Committee of the Port of Monfalcone in order to examine a first rough draft of those which they will have to be the lines guides for the drawing up of the new Portuale Town development plan of Monfalcone that will have to replace the old going back PRP to 1979.

By the end of this month the members of the Committee, that Region is composed of Friuli Venice Julia, Municipality and Province of Gorizia, Harbour Company, Special Company for the Port of Monfalcone, Consortium for the Industrial Development of the Municipality of Monfalcone, Harbour office of Monfalcone, shippers and unions, will have to make to reach the Region observations and suggestions so as to define within August all the details of the address action, in order then to proceed to the definitive drawing up of the Plan that will have to be subordinate to the opinion of the competent ministry.

In the course of the reunion it is evidenced that the new town-planning instrument will have to consider first of all of the course of the traffics that, in spite of the persistent economic crisis that has interested also the commercial interchange by sea, has made to record a course in controtendenza respect to other national ports of call, with annual medium increments of beyond the five percent in the last quinquennium, I yield in particular of that which is defined "the explosion" of handling of motor vehicles. From the necessity to exceed the existing structural criticalities here, in particular completing the work of dredging of the access channel (to carry gradually to a depth of 13 meters), realizing adapted to mooring docks, widening the storage large squares, upgrading the railway connection.

The new Town development plan, that it will be subjected to Strategic the Environmental Appraisal (VAS) and, for the next participations, to Appraisal of Environmental impact (VIA), with a clean procedural simplification - has observed the president of the Region, Debora Serracchiani - will have also to take into consideration the necessity to separate the nautical activities from diporto from those harbour ones. Moreover it will have to be guaranteed the environmental sustainability of the harbour activities: from here precise addresses faces to the improvement of the environmental quality of the structures of the port of call and fort attention to the protection of the near natural areas: the Carso and the Site of national importance (Until) "Cane field of the Lisert" of the Net Nature 2000.

"The port of call of Monfalcone - Debora Serracchiani in the margin of the reunion has said - must be able to operate in synergy with the ports of Alto Adriatico, in particular with Trieste, for which it can be complementary regarding container and ro-ro. The Region is interested to create all the conditions so that this port increases its importance".
